Thanks for your feedback all.

Doc, We did discuss the trolling problem on brother Otterson’s blog. It is really unfortunate that a few trolls so consistently clutter the conversation.

Rus, if I had realized that you hadn’t known about it I would have gone out of my way to let you in particular know. It is easy for a little post of mine to get lost among your RSS subscriptions. Sorry you missed it.

Stephanie, I am confident that there will be more information about this for not-as-techie members available through official channels in the near future. Chastity is well. We expect a baby boy sometime in the next couple of weeks. Should be an adventure!

This is fascinating. Thank you so much for sharing all this information. You always teach me something new. Would they ever share this info in an Ensign or conference? I think this is something all members should know. I’m really excited about the possible applications for ward/stake leadership. It’s exactly what parents need…when trying to fulfill their first priorities at home and then church callings. By the way, why does having a degree make it more difficult to get hired by the Church?

THANKS SO MUCH…and How’s Chastity doing? When’s the due date? BEST OF LUCK!

Man I wish I had heard about the tech talk before it took place. I would have loved to have been there. Thanks for the write up J. I’m going to have to start paying more attention.

I have enjoyed the Michael Otterson Blog. His comments I have found useful and worthy in a Nationwide debate about faith. Unfortunately it is plagued by the same trolls week after week after week after week. They go off on tangents and prop up their agenda tirelessly. Most public blogs have the problem of degenerate conversation but I find it truly sad that in trying to engage the world in discussions of faith, every ex-mormon with an axe to grind think they have found their pulpit to decry the horrors of the church. You would think the DAMU had 24hr monitoring of the second he posts anything. After while they just look silly if you read his posts back to back and see the same names posting over and over again. However, I can imagine that maybe at some point these folks would just get bored, but maybe I am underestimating their venom.

The Hinckley quote (which I loved) is actually:

“Communication is the sinew that binds the Church as one great family.”

The full talk is a great read for anybody who didn’t see the clip last night, providing some interesting context for the snippet cited here. I tried to insert the link but it wouldn’t let me. The talk is “Faith: The Essence of True Religion,” Ensign, Nov 1981.

Good to meet ya last night!
