This Easter weekend, April 3th and 4th, 2010, we’ve been enjoying the annual General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Every Conference I try to post links to MP3 audio of the sermons of the modern Apostles and Prophets of Jesus Christ as well as other Internet resources as they become available.
Also, try out the Beta of the church’s new General Conference page:
This weekend, October 3rd and 4th 2009, we are participating once again in the semi-annual General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where we listen to discourses by modern Apostles and Prophets of Jesus Christ. “The face of sin today often wears the Halloween mask of tolerance. Do not be deceived. Behind that facade is heartache, unhappiness, and pain. You know what is right and what is wrong, and no disguise, however appealing, can change that truth. The character of transgression remains the same. If your so called friends urge you to do anything you know to be wrong, you be the one to make a stand for right, even if you stand alone. Have the moral courage to be a light for others to follow. There’s no friendship more valuable than your own clear conscience, your own moral cleanliness…”

Live Video, streamed over the Internet, as well as archived recordings of completed sessions is available on demand through BYU and KSL. We have been watching conference through BYU.tv for several years now and love it. The video player only works on Windows or Mac OS X (Sorry Linux Users!). This year KSL appears to be using the same player as BYU.tv, so they may be actually the same source. Also, the church is officially providing a Video Podcast for the first time this year (see the podcast section below).

Once again we are enjoying the General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Each conference, I try to post links to MP3 audio and other resources as quickly as they become available. Not everyone can listen to or watch the conference as it is broadcast, but internet technology has progressed to the point that anyone can participate and listen to the words of the living Prophet, Twelve Apostles, and other general authorities of the church regardless of their schedule.

The links below are to the earliest available MP3 Audio files. They are often available shortly after each session ends through the podcast. As MP3 files are made available on the official church website, the links will be changed to point there.

Video is available both live as the conference is broadcast as well as on demand for past sessions, which are available immediately. So you can literally watch them at any time. This is the way we are watching conference this year. Our first time watching this way was last April, and we experienced some technical bugs, but this fall the experience has been, so far, bug-free.

Today my company has arranged for me to attend the first Utah Open Source Conference .
I will be posting my notes on the sessions I attend in a subsequent post when I get a moment. However, it may have to wait until after the Weird Al Yankovic concert at the State Fair tonight.
This weekend we are watching the April General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Each conference, I try to post links to MP3 audio and other resources as they become available for those who were unable to listen or watch.
This is the first time that we have watched the conference through live, online streaming video from byu.tv . For the most part it has worked great, except for a bug where it stops every half an hour or so and says that the video stream is “suspended.” We discovered, however, that by simply reloading the page, the video would continue. So we only missed a couple of sentences every half an hour or so. One annoyance was that every time we had to reload the page, the video player displayed a 15-30 second nagvertisement encouraging us to support byu.tv with a financial donation. We would have missed fewer sentences if we didn’t have to wait through it every time we had to load the page.
If you haven’t been able to watch or listen to the conference, or if you aren’t LDS and would like to listen to the words of the living Prophet, Twelve Apostles, and other general authorities of the church, watch this post for updates with links to MP3s and Video Archives as they become available.
